Meet Jamie: My Story

My Story: Jamie Blume

Founder/CEO Along Their Way

In 2011, I was diagnosed with ADHD.  This diagnosis should not have been surprising, as I had studied the impact of ADHD on the adult brain and had worked with clients who showed some of the challenges associated with ADHD.  That said, I had never looked inward to identify the cause of many of my own challenges, nor had I connected the dots for the similar challenges faced by my children.  For years, finding effective solutions for daily problems was often a task that left me feeling overwhelmed and misunderstood.  In addition, I grappled with the perplexity of why my children excelled in some areas while struggling immensely in others. I even watched as one son’s detrimental choices distanced him from the family, and led to feelings of depression, anxiety, and self-harm. With the ADHD diagnosis, however, I began to better understand my challenges and my children’s challenges. Together, we started to see the world and confront our struggles from a new perspective.

Our lives were changed.

At Along Their Way, we embrace each person where they are and guide them towards a fulfilled and prosperous life. If you or a family member are faced with concerns, we are here for you on your journey.

Not long after the diagnosis, I began to feel an aching responsibility to help others navigate a world with ADHD. And when I looked in the mirror and considered my personal and professional expertise in health and healing, I knew I was well-equipped to make a difference.  I started to share my personal experience and, at the same time, drove my coaching practice towards helping those with a similar ADHD brain.

I became a trusted resource for young adults, adults, and families who were navigating the challenges of ADHD. I also buried myself in the science, studied the research, and obtained professional certifications as an ADHD Coach through the International Coaching Federation and the Professional Association for ADHD Coaches. This deeper understanding not only helped me better support my family and clients, but it empowered me with self-compassion and provided me an ADHD toolkit for a more fulfilling life.
